It's easiest  to ride a horse in the direction it is going.  If the horse is dead, get off it: since it is hard to tell your horse is dying, have two horses!

Care enough to make course corrections early.

Keep hope alive!

December 2007 2nd Edition - Issue: #29
President's Report:

Hello NACE friends,

Your NACE Board has already been working hard on setting up the calendar of events for 2008.   I believe you will find that we have yet another fantastic  year in the making for 2008.

A few updates I would like to share with everyone.

First I am proud to announce that the Triangle Chapter placed 2nd in our membership drive recruiting 18 new members.  ( This is one new member over last years membership drive.)   Although we do not receive a trophy for this feat,  we do receive a $200.00 scholarship for the Educational Conference in Philadelphia this summer.   Congrats to our membership drive team and all their hard work.    Scholarship applications will be available at our May meeting.  Those interested in planning to attend the Educational Conference please make sure you don't miss May's event.  Our chapter last year gave our two scholarships for the conference and it is our  hope to increase that to four scholarships in 2008.

Next, you will notice there has been an increase in the membership monthly dues.  We hope that after a brief explanation of the increase you will understand the need for our chapter to entertain this decision.   Each month our chapter pays its host property $20.00 per person.  This as you well know is very little when is comes to all that you have experienced at a NACE function.  (This amount has not increased over the past 8 years.)  The chapter receives $5.00 per member and $25.00 per non member.  The funds to the chapter help sustain our scholarships as well as fund the additional expenses for our larger events such as the awards ceremony and fundraiser.   The chapter is not collecting this additional fee, we are passing this fee onto our host properties therefore giving each property a $25.00 per person stipend.

Finally,  as the board gets its objectives for the year set at our 2008 board retreat , we will be looking to our members for assistance with committees.  It has often been said the best way to utilize your NACE membership is to get involved.  We have all levels of positions that may be of interest to you.  Some you may just need to commit to help with one meeting others you may find yourself more involved with several meetings.  Whatever works best for your schedule we are sure  we can find a way for you to get involved.

To all of our newest members we look forward to spending this next year with you and to our older tried and true members see you once again in January.

Happy Holiday's

Diane Tighe, Triangle NACE Chapter President

Community Service:

On December 4th, the Triangles chapters of ICES, NACE and the TBA all gathered to celebrate the season.  Each attendee was asked to bring an unwrapped gift   or purchase a decorated holiday tree to help make a donation to the Toy's for Tot's program.  Much fun was had by all and we belive we  have begun a tradition for our chapters.   See you all next year!
